It is during tough times that one can count on the care and kindness of colleagues, especially when a sense of family is deeply engrained into the company culture.
Such is the case of Universal Robina Corporation Branded Consumer Food Group’s (URC-BCFG) sales team. In the midst of today’s challenging situation, the group finds strength in each other, and inspiration from seeing the tireless efforts of their co-workers.
In South Luzon, Ryan Retuya is thankful for the support that he receives, not only from the company but also from his peers and business partners. “Everyone is doing their part to contribute to URC’s commitment to ensure food supply security,” said Ryan.
The sales team’s front liners have taken this responsibility to heart, said Ryan, as they know fully well that they play a key role in bringing URCs products to Pinoys’ households. “That is where we appreciate the delivery team, ‘yung warehouse men namin, ‘yung mga encoders who strive to go to the office para gampanan ‘yung trabaho nila, not because of monetary, but ‘yung responsibility to make sure that goods are always in place doon sa mga supermarket.”
Ryan emphasized the importance of having a team that looks out for each other, especially now that keeping food on the Filipinos’ table is more crucial than ever. “Right now, it’s not about the benta, it’s all about ‘yung responsibility mo doon sa mga nangangailangan,” he explained.
In Eastern Visayas, Popoy Ladub has been like a big brother, especially in the face of mounting problems brought by ECQ restrictions. He constantly watches over his sales and distribution team and reminds them to be resilient.
URC’s Sales team continues to supply products to various sales channels and customers.
“There are delays in the transport of stocks and in the deliveries to sari-sari stores. But we try to cover all areas. I always tell my team, kapit lang, stay safe always, and let’s do our job. We need to deliver stocks to the market.”
But Popoy feels that no matter how difficult the tasks and situation are, all their efforts are well worth it. “This is a company where we’re like family; the owners still work hand-in-hand with employees. I’m also thankful for the support of our distributors and re-fillers.”
Powered by the sense to serve its consumers, the URC-BCFG sales team is inspired to carry on as one family. Oscar “Oca” Villamora, Jr., URC BCFG vice president for sales related, “my team always asks - what else can we do? How do we ensure that our products are available on the shelves? This, despite personal concerns for their family and the overall situation in the country. They are driven by their desire to serve and their concern for the company.”
Oca added, “in the end, we are a family fueled by malasakit. We’re all proud to be part of a company that cares for each other, that allows one to have an impact in the markets we serve.”
