URC brands Cloud 9 and Munchy’s earn national honors at Malaysia’s 2025 Putra Brand Awards

Two of Universal Robina Corp.’s (URC) top brands in Malaysia – Cloud 9 and Munchy’s – recently received national honors at the 2025 Putra Brand Awards, underscoring strong consumer trust and continued momentum in the country’s competitive food and snack sector. 

The awards were presented during recently-held ceremonies which honored brands that resonate most strongly with Malaysian consumers through a nationwide consumer-voted study. 

Cloud 9 received a silver award in the food stuff category at the Putra Aria Brand Awards 2025, while Munchy’s earned a bronze award, also in the food stuff category, at the Putra Brand Awards 2025. 

The Putra Brand Awards and Putra Aria Brand Awards are among Malaysia’s most prominent brand recognition platforms.? 

Organized by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) in collaboration with industry partners, the awards are based on consumer perception and preference, drawing responses from tens of thousands of Malaysian consumers across multiple categories. 

“These awards reflect the trust Malaysian consumers place in our brands and the dedication of our teams who bring them to life every day,” said Karen Ong, URC’s Chief Marketing Officer.

URC has been strengthening its innovation capabilities in Malaysia as part of its broader Southeast Asia growth strategy.? 

In March 2025, the company officially opened a new research and development center in Pasir Gudang, Johor, designed to accelerate product development and packaging innovation for the regional market. 

The center features advanced product testing and development technologies and supports cross-functional collaboration to shorten time-to-market.? 

Munchy’s, established in 1991 and acquired by URC in 2021, is Malaysia’s No. 1 biscuit brand and a market leader in several key segments, with distribution in more than 20,000 outlets nationwide.? 

Cloud 9, part of URC’s regional snacks portfolio, continues to grow its market share and brand recognition across Southeast Asia. 

The Putra awards add to URC’s recent regional recognitions, including accolades for trust, workplace excellence and brand performance in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian markets.
