Just when 2021 was about to end, the Philippines was hit by Super Typhoon Rai (“Odette”), considered a Category 5 typhoon that badly affected 11 out of 17 regions.
The World Instant Noodles Association (WINA) and Nissin-Universal Robina Corporation (Partnership of Nissin Foods Holdings Co., Ltd and Universal Robina Corporation) joined hands in providing aid to Filipinos in need. Through their join relief effort, 100,000 instant noodles were donated to different communities in the central and southern regions. With the help of local governments, the instant noodles were successfully distributed to areas such as Barangays Labongon, Paknaan, Tingub and Tabok in Mandaue City; and Barangays Tayud Consolacion and Balud in Cebu City.
Residents of Barangay Tingub in Mandaue City receive instant noodles from NURC and WINA.
About WINA
World Instant Noodles Association (WINA) was founded in 1997, for the purpose to improve the quality of instant noodle products, to promote the consumption and the industry's development, and to contribute to the diet of people all over the world. WINA is a world-wide industry association comprising 142 companies/organization from 23 different countries/regions. Because instant noodles play an important role as emergency relief in times of crisis, such as natural disasters, etc., WINA has been cooperating with its member companies around the world to provide emergency food aid. At the 6th World Instant Noodles Summit Osaka in 2008, the association established “WINA Disaster Relief Fund” in order to provide further emergency food aid.
